THE FACE BEHIND THE WORDS
My name is Alice and I live in Stockport, Greater Manchester. I have loved writing rhymes for as long as I can remember and I am in the process of writing my debut children’s picture book (watch this space!) As a child, I loved rhyming books, especially anything that was a bit wacky and silly. I was obsessed with Spike Milligan poems and in awe of his imagination.
I can’t write this bio without giving a shout out to my lovely Nana Pauline, the OG family poet. Nana Pauline has written a personalised rhyme in every single birthday card I have ever been lucky enough to receive from her and she does the same for all her friends and family. She is brilliant and the joy that her poems have brought me over the years can’t be underestimated. It’s in the genes (I hope!) and Find the Words is my own way of spreading that joy to all of you lovely people.
I hope this little venture of mine will offer a good old-fashioned antidote to a world of fast food, fast fashion and fast everything. Life should not be about lavish gifts and accumulating more and more things you don’t need but instead about loving your nearest and dearest and finding joy, peace & possibility in the everyday.
When I am not writing and trying to be deep and philosophical, I enjoy doing all the usual millennial pastimes of brunch, wining and dining, running, yoga-ing, trying every gym class going and enthusiastically cooing over other peoples’ dogs.
